ISSA co-hosts the “Emotion and Citizenship Education” (2023 KASSE International Academic Symposium) with KASSE. The 2023 KASSE International Academic Symposium aims to explore, discuss, and advance research and knowledge in the intersection of emotions and citizenship education. Emotions play a significant role in shaping an individual’s sense of belonging, identity, and engagement in the broader social and political context.  There has been an outpouring of research on the role of emotions in virtually all of the disciplines. In education, the emotions associated with learning and teaching are by no means new terrain for researchers and educators, but there seems to be a renewed interest, especially in the emotions of teaching, the emotional politics of teacher development and educational reform, and their implications for teacher education. With a focus on citizenship education, this symposium will provide a vital platform for creating and sharing knowledge on emotion in education.
