Open Call for Papers (2021–2022)
The editorial board of the Journal of Social Studies Education in Asia (JSSEA) invites submissions from authors. JSSEA is an international, peer-reviewed, open access, scholarly journal for social studies education in Asia. The journal covers a wide range of topics that include, but are not limited to, social studies, history, and geography, economic and political, environmental, global, and international, citizenship, and civic education. Although manuscripts will be accepted at any time, those submitted before the 30th of November 2021 will be eligible for publication in the Spring 2022 issue.
We ask authors to ensure that their manuscript fully complies with the requirements of the latest Instruction for Authors. We ask that you understand that submissions will not be eligible for review or check by editorial board if these requirements are not met.
Note: Currently, we do not have plans to publish a special issue.
Call for Articles (peer-reviewed papers)
On submission, your manuscript will be sent to at least two peer reviewers who are independent, anonymous, expert referees. Submissions that are clearly outside the scope of JSSEA will not be considered. The editorial board will make a final decision on the submission based on careful reading and the reviewers’ comments. Please note that revisions may be requested.
Call for Reviews of Policy and Practice
JSEEA also welcomes reviews of policy and practice, which analyze practices and policy trends related to social studies education in Asia, including geography, history, civic, economic, global, and human rights education. Please note that these submissions are not peer-reviewed.
On submission, your manuscript will be checked by two editorial board members, based on which the editorial board will make a final decision. Please note that revisions may be requested.
Call for Book Reviews
Reviews should be written in English without jargon. The publication date of the reviewed books should not be older than five years. Reviews of relevant books in languages other than English are also welcome; however, they should include details of the book’s context for international readers who are unfamiliar with it.
Authors and publishers who want to suggest a book for review or review relevant books are requested to contact:
